We offer instruction for all experience levels – from complete newbies that have never tried diving or snorkeling before, to experienced divers that are looking to add to their skill set. So just let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll get you set up. Our PADI beginner courses accommodate up to 4 student divers. Courses are also taught privately, if you prefer, so you can progress at your own pace, without interruption – just you & your instructor.

So if you want to try scuba diving in the Cayman Islands - you've come to the right place! Perhaps our most popular class is Discover Scuba Diving in Grand Cayman this is also known as a Resort Course. While this is not a scuba certification, it is a PADI dive course that allows you to try the whole dive experience in a few hours, before commiting to more indepth dive instruction!

If you want to get certified but think you don't have time to learn to dive in Cayman, you can begin studying before you get here! Dive theory is now available onine. If you prefer to learn in a classroom environment, you can begin your studies with your local PADI dive shop, and even make a start on the training in a swimming pool. You can then complete the open water certification dives in the warm clear waters of the Cayman Islands! You don't have to learn with a PADI dive shop - we also offer Referral Dives for students that begin their training with SSI, NAUI or other recognised scuba diving agencies.

Indigo Divers is located at 25 North West Point Road, West Bay, Grand Cayman, where we have a private dock, bathroom & changing facility. As a small dive operation, we do not have a physical dive shop. All  necessary paperwork can be completed online. We keep the boat at the Cayman Islands Yacht Club when diving the north wall. Our location is primarily determined by the weather.

We aim to depart at 7.30 am with the morning dive trip returning at approximately 11.30 am. Afternoon trips (when scheduled) depart at 12.30 pm returning at approximately 4 pm.

Our usual dive profiles are: Dive 1. 100 ft wall dive for approximately 40 minutes; Surface interval for 40-50 minutes; Dive 2. 40 ft shallow reef dive for up to 60 minutes, OR a top of the wall dive – 60 ft for 40 minutes. We do limit bottom time on the first dive, to ensure no-one goes into deco on the second dive. The maximum depth is 100 ft – we are usually at this depth for roughly 10 minutes. A 30 minute dive would therefore give you at least 40 minutes on the second dive. These profiles are not set in stone, but of course safety takes priority. We do ask that you stay within 10 minutes of your computers no-decompression limit, and return to the boat with 500 psi.

Activities cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time, will be charged for the full rate of the scheduled activity. Advanced reservations may be cancelled with (minimum) 7 days notice, at no charge. Activities cancelled with less than 7 days, but more than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the full rate of the scheduled activity. For the period December 15th to January 7th inclusive, a minimum of 4 (four) weeks notice of cancellation is required. Notice must be received in writing to chris@indigodivers.com or katie@indigodivers.com.  Activities cancelled with less than 4 weeks notice, will be charged for 100% of the scheduled activity. Nitrox, equipment rental, and Kittiwake fees excluded.

Junior divers are welcome, provided they are accompanied by a certified adult. 10 & 11 year old divers are restricted to a maximum depth of 40 ft. 12 – 15 year olds are restricted to a maximum depth of 60 ft. For insurance purposes, we follow the PADI guidelines on depth limitations.

Due to delays in people disembarking the cruise ships, we cannot accommodate you on our regular 2 tank dive trips, and have other ‘on island’ divers kept waiting for departure. We can therefore only accommodate you on a private charter basis.

PLEASE BRING ONLY THE ESSENTIALS ie. BCD, regulator, mask, fins, booties, wet suit, and you may wish to also bring a flash light or camera. Storage space on the boat is limited, so dive bags will be stored at the dock.

We use aluminium 80 cubic foot tanks as standard. 63cf’s can be provided on request. Divers using a regulator with DIN fitting will need to bring a yoke adaptor.

Nitrox can be provided on request with a minimum 48 hours notice. Unless otherwise specified, a 32% mix will be provided. We analyse all tanks to check the mix ourselves, and also have an analyser on board for divers use. It is the divers responsibility to analyse their own tanks prior to each dive.

Water temperature ranges from 77 to 86 degrees. August & September are the warmest months, February & March the coldest. We recommend a full 5 mm suit for the winter months (late December – March), and no wet suit required for July – September. A 3 mm suit is suggested for the remaining months.
